Poker Slapsticks

What a crazy day this was. Today Kage, Neil, Steve and I went to DT Mt. Clemens to film some video for Neil and Steve’s video production classes. They let me act so I was really excited, then it was like they made me a stunt dummy. I got boxes dropped on my head, I had to tumble down a hill, do all sorts of running, trip and fall. It was crazy but it was alot of fun.

In the evening we all went to Pauls apartment to play poker. Man did it get crazy. For starters.. I lasted the longest I ever have in the game so that made it fun for me, but the game lasted until 3 oclock in the morning, hence the reason I am writing this up at 3:45 in the morning. We got really slapsticky and everything became funny. Probably the funniest of the whole night was when Paul said “This is gonna be my hand, I can feel it” then I said to Paul, “Paul, quit touching yourself”, Then Ryan said I sure hope it is your hand.” Basically we were getting at that Paul was touching himself. Well we were all laughing histerically and Paul folds. I said “Well it looks like it wasnt your hand after all, Whose hand was it.” I ended up folding also, so I guess it was Ryans hand. I know that probably makes absoulely no sense to anybody but it was about 10 min of laughing so hard we were all crying. I ended up with second place, the first time I have NOT been the first one out in poker so it was a good time.

Computer died

My friggin computer died yesterday.. just spend all day getting it back to the way that I like it. You don’t really realize it until you have to do it all over again… just how many settings you change to get your desktop back to the way it was before. Well I think I am almost done but now I may be doing it all over again. My server is completely maxed out, it cant take it any more. My server is actually my first computer. It started out a 750k7 processor with 256 megs of ram and a 20 gig hard drive. It has since then moved to 1.3GHz Duron with 768megs of ram and a raid 0 80 gig array with about 100 gigs of non raid storage. Everything is completely maxed out. nothing can be upgraded higher, all ports are full.. SO.. I am going to upgrade. I am going to buy a new motherboard, processor, and ram and move my server to this box that I am on which can be upgraded to atleast an athlon 3200 and 2 gigs of ram.. that should last a little while longer.

What does all this mean.. well this means that not only will I be installing my desktop again when I get my new parts but I will also be migrating my domain controller to a new system. This system also included Exchange Server, 4 websites, 6 MySQL databases and a slew of other services that run my network. On top of that I will be gearing up and trying out CMS’s for my net site lazynetworkadmin.com. Sometime.. I think I need to get a life away from the computer…

Quest for CMS

I am on a quest for the perfect CMS outfit out there. I have tried a number of different ones including phpnuke, postnuke and phpwebsite which seem to be the biggest big wigs out there, and have tried a number of other ones too and so far I am not really impressed with any of them out there.. phpnuke seems to forum boardish, postnuke just doesnt feel right.. the admin panel has left alot to be desired and phpwebsite, whereas it offers alot.. it is very limited in what it can do.. with that being said.. I am kinda leaning towards phpwebsite so far unless I can find another that just blows me away. All of this is for my new site lazynetworkadmin.com. I definately own too many domains. This site is going to be a one stop shop for links to the most helpful network admin information out there along with articles which I will create which will explain how to do different things. All too often I come across something that would be sooo easy if only the right information was available.. my quest is to make it available.. Well we will see how it goes..

NAIAS 2006

Today Ryan, Jackie and I went to the North American International Auto Show in downtown Detroit. It was like any other auto show that they have every year. This time though they had a section for like tuner type cars which was kinda cool. I enjoyed that part. There were also alot of concept cars which are always fun. If you wanna see the pictures you can see them here:

Lightbox.js and Zenphoto

Ok so in response to all the posts I keep on running into regarding lightbox.js integration, I decided to make a theme for everyone.. it works alright.. well it works.. after implementing it.. I actually don’t like at and wont put it to use on any of my sites.. now…. i think this would be an excellent addition to a plugin for wordpress which I have been trying to work on but I massivly suck at writing my own code but I am working on something.. we will see if anything actually comes out of it. With that being said.. here is the release of the Chili-Light theme.. I may modd it a little more to give it some different colors to complete the theme but I figured I would get it out there since everybody was screaming about it. I have tested it on IE6, Firefox, and Safari and it works on all 3. Please let me know if it doesn’t work on others, however keep in mind that you may be able to troubleshoot it as well as I can.

Note: Be aware that because of how this works.. commenting no longer does. It makes no sense to add this to the image page.. it would be useless

Here is the demo: http://beta.chilifrei.net/zenphoto

Here is the Official theme with Lightbox.js: Chili-Light_Official.zip

And incase you don’t like my colors,
Here is the default theme with Lightbox.js: Chili-Light_Default.zip

Hope you all like it..

Zenphoto Upgrade

The fellas from zenphoto have done a teriffic job on the photo album they are developing.. making my life easier. As far as the upgrade goes.. none of you guys will notice the difference.. really only backend stuff.. you may notice that I tweaked the order of the albums but that is about it. Now for my question.. is it wrong that I got this excited over this release… I have been hitting their site probably 20 times a day this week hoping to see an update. Finally, today at work I was waiting for a call back from my boss and checked out the board and sure enough, it released.. I was soo geeked.. I couldn’t wait to get home. So congratulations to Trisweb and Luckyspin for making such a good product..

So check it out guys.. even though it may look the same to you.. I am still proud of it:-)
